In 1961 I did the bronze award in Kirkham, Lancashire. In 1963 I did my silver award in Aden, we camped out in the desert overnight , the night that John F Kennedy was assassinated. I then moved to Rhodesia where unfortunately there was no DoE so was unable to get my gold award. Then in 2017 I completed the Diamond Challenge Award. The Duke of Edinburgh was an inspiration to very many people including myself. His legacy will live on with his son Prince Edward at the helm.
