The Duke of Edinburgh's Award gave me opportunities that I would not have had, without the scheme. It taught me resilience and instilled in me an ethos to have a go. It gave me the chance to give something back to the community and I met some marvelous people along the way. I have very fond memories of learning new skills, taking part in new sports and volunteering as service. The expeditions and explorations gave me a knowledge of the outdoors and the enjoyment I still have of being outdoors walking, is directly attributable to the Award. I am very grateful to the Duke of Edinburgh for giving me the opportunity to take on the challenge and push myself. Achieving the Gold Award over twenty years ago remains one of my most proudest moments. Thank you.
