I never imagined the impact taking part in DofE would have on me when I was invited by a friend to come along to the youth centre one evening. Bronze, Silver & Gold awards later I am truly grateful. As well as amazing memories of expeditions with my friends & a residential in Penzance I volunteered at my local Girlguiding unit to complete my Gold award. Over 15 years later I now run the Guide unit I volunteered at, started a Ranger unit & have just embarked on my journey as DofE leader so our Rangers can gain their DofE memories. Never did I consider working with children & young girls before volunteering, I now have an amazing career as a Teaching Assistant which I love, have the confidence to lead two Guiding units and the passion to pass on what I've learned along the way.
