I still remember my D of E expeditions so clearly-camping in a field with most of my year at school for my Bronze award, canoeing down the Severn for my silver, and tramping through the Lake District in the rain for my Gold (I still haven’t been back to this day!!). Definitely character building, and I learnt skills and self-resilience that remain with me to this day. Both my parents came with me to St James’ for my award ceremony and it was such a proud day.
