Paul Newton

I began my DofE Gold in 1993/4 through a school group that my woodwork teacher had suggested to me. I loved the idea of the challenge and the opportunities that it would presented, I had no idea at that time, however, just how much it would shape the rest of my life. My big regret is that I never completed the course, as I changed schools. I still to this day, enjoy time spent with groups in the great outdoors, both personally and professionally as a Forest school leader. A role where I’d like to think, that I can have a positive impact and affect both growth and change in young people, just as my school teacher/DofE leader had with myself. I only wish I had let him know the impact his role as a DofE leader had on me, always take the time to thank your DofE staff! Diolch Yn Fawr!
