I started DofE on the advice of school to help me improve my self-confidence. Being deaf, I was anxious to join but since then, I have completed Bronze, Silver & Gold. I did all of these awards through the Essex Fire Brigade so I had the opportunities to learn new skills! I have made many memories and new friends along the journey. Memories including stepping into the swamp and getting drenched, being chased by horses, getting lost numerous of times but most of all, lots of laughter were made! My proudest day was completing my Gold award as I have done a lot to get to where I am, and being invited at the St James’s Palace. Since then, I have become a DofE leader for a deaf charity, hoping to inspire the younger generation as DofE has changed my life for the better. I would not be who I am if it wasn’t for DofE.
