Very thankful to Prince Philip for founding the Duke of Edinburgh Award. It was on my Gold Award expedition (Heaphy Track of New Zealand) that I met my future husband at the age of 17. A bit of pack carrying chivalry thanks to my rolled ankle, laughs around the bonfire and the rest was history! You know he’s a keeper when you haven’t showered for five days and he’s not deterred!
Up the top of another mountain four years later he proposed.
12 years together now, with many more adventures around the world, we’re both very thankful to DoE that we found each other!
