Having completed my Duke of Edinburgh award up to Gold as soon as I became a teacher I knew that this was something that I wanted to continue and provide for my own students. I have since gone onto complete my own BEL award in order to lead groups, have become an assessor and I am now the expedition co-ordinator for my school which has the highest cohort of girls in Berkshire. I have seen over 800 girls through the award in the last 7 year and we have another 200 signed up for their completion in this summer term- it's going to be busy! But the experiences and the memories that they gain, and what I have gained are worth it. This is something that has changed millions of peoples lives and long may it continue.
