I took part in the amazing DofE Award scene while at Queen Anne’s Grammar School in York in the 1980’s. I have so many happy happy memories, including meeting The Duke of Edinburg at St James’ Palace for my gold award. I’ll never forget his comment about how apt it was for the Queen Anne girls to be in the Queen Anne room. But for me the award scheme gave me my career, I did hospital radio as my skill and through that, I have had an amazing career with the BBC for over 30 years. Goodness knows where I would be now if I hadn’t participated in this amazing scene. Thank you.
