I completed my Bronze, Silver & Gold Awards at Stamford High School, Stamford, Lincs. I was so proud to receive my Gold Award in 1992 at St James’ Palace, almost 30 years to the day that my Mum ( Gwendolene Vernal nee Gould) received her Gold Award in Scotland. It was a very special moment for my Mum when The Duke of Edinburgh came over to her in St James’ Palace 30 years later and they had a lovely chat!
