New for 2025 we’re excited to launch our first DofE Dragon Boat Race.
Teams of between 13 – 16 people will compete in a series of races across the water in dragon boats (like large canoes) with between 12-15 people paddling while another person beats a large drum at the back of the boat to keep people in time.
Each team will get to compete in a minimum of 3 races on the day with the fastest teams going through to a grand finale race to compete to be crowned the DofE Dragon Boat Champions!

Surrey Quays, London

Registration fee:
£400 per team of 13 (13 paddlers plus one drummer)
£450 per team of 16 (15 paddles plus one drummer)
Minimum fundraising target:
£120 per person (£1,560 per team of 13/£2,040 per team of 16)
Entry includes:
- Minimum of 3 dragon boat races
- Prize giving ceremony with trophy for the winning team and medals for runners up
- Access to an area in the events hub for your team and supporters plus access to changing areas
- Entry into best team and best team fancy dress competitions
- Access to additional activities on the day
The event is suitable for all levels of fitness and abilities, no prior experience or training is required, and a full safety briefing will be provided on the day. The minimum age to take part is 12, everyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a legal parent or guardian on the day.
Food and drink options will also be available as well as dedicated areas for your team and supporters. Dragon Boat racing is fantastic spectacle so supporters are more than welcome to come along and cheer on your team on the day so people can come and enjoy the fantastic atmosphere and take part in some of the other activities on dry land even if they don’t want to take part in the races.
