We’re excited to be running Bronze DofE programmes at The Hastings Academy.
This year, Year 9s will be able to do their Bronze DofE – and we’d like as many of them as possible to benefit from this opportunity.
It takes about 6 months to achieve a Bronze Award and this year we’ll run it at school from October 2021 to July 2022.
Students who do their DofE will choose the skills they want to develop and the activities they want to do as part of their own programme. We will take them on a two-day, one-night expedition organised by the school on the assumption that schools are allowed to take part in residential trips and visits from the Spring term onward. If not, DofE has introduced a number of adaptations to allow the Expedition section to be achieved without the overnight stay. There is also the Certificate of Achievement for those who do not wish to complete the Expedition section.
The DofE is open to all young people. We want all students to feel they can take part and there will be financial support available for students who need it.

We’ll be enrolling students who want to take part in the Autumn term. Ahead of that, we’d like to tell you more how they can benefit from doing their DofE, and about what’s involved, at our Parent/Carer Info Session on 4 October 2021.
