Oyster Worldwide – Feed those in need in Portugal – Residential

Thousands of people in Lisbon are living below the poverty line or living on the streets. This project involves ensuring that these people receive at least one decent meal per day.

Every day, volunteers travel around areas of Lisbon to collect unwanted food from supermarkets, cafes, bars, restaurants and schools. This food, generally just about to pass its best before date, is then prepared and redistributed to those in need. Not only does this fight the critical problem of food waste, it also allows people who are most in need to be nourished and provided for.

This project now feeds over 500 people in Lisbon per day, from individuals to families. It is an inspiring mission, and one which volunteers love to become part of.
