Ygam are a national charity, with a mission to prevent young people from experiencing gaming and gambling harms, through awareness raising, education and research.
This 3 month skills programme is ideal for anyone with an interest in gaming, or safeguarding in a digital environment.
With a mixture of facilitated (90 minute), interactive, online sessions and self-motivated tasks, you will look at topics such as:
– Motivations and benefits of gaming, balanced with the concerns and risks
– Blurred lines of gaming and gambling, including monetisation in games, microtransactions, loot boxes and cryptocurrency
– Exploring techniques such as advertising within gambling, and how this might appeal to young people
– Increasing knowledge around stigma, mental health, and addiction
– Discussing the benefits of managing personal finances
– Knowing where to go for help and support for those who might need it
The start date will be confirmed once we have a minimum of 16 people, with additional cohorts being available later in the year.
