The British Racing School is one of two racing schools in the UK that provide specialist training for the horseracing industry. With support from long-standing DofE supporter, The Gerald Leigh Trust, we are offering 10 places on a free Residential course, in the week 14th – 18th July 2025, for young people who live in an IMD 1-3 area and who are doing their Gold DofE.
We are situated on the outskirts of Newmarket, Suffolk, the home of British horse racing, and our state-of-the-art training centre offers brilliant facilities and hands-on learning experiences for young people with a passion or interest in working in the horseracing industry.
The free week-long Residential will be based on our Introduction to Racing course, covering working with racehorses and riding. You do not need to be able to ride or have experience with horses to join the course, which is aimed specifically at those who might struggle to afford a Residential as part of their DofE Gold Award.? For welfare reasons, applicants must weigh under 11st or 70kg. For more information, please contact Beth Sullivan on [email protected] or 01638 675907.
