Aspen Outdoors Ltd will be running a Winter Skills Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Residentials on 15-19 February 2025.

Experiencing the Scottish mountains in Winter is an amazing experience. The snow-covered mountains and winter light are really beautiful and it can be really good fun and challenging moving through the ice and snow-covered landscape. The residential shall be based at Ben Nevis Youth Hostel (in Scotland) and is fully catered. Transport to and from Glasgow shall be provided.

The five-day residential will introduce participants to winter hillwalking skills; including:

Winter kit and equipment
Crampon skills
Ice axe skills
Snow shelters
Winter navigation
Avalanche awareness
Identifying animal tracks

Each day we will go up into the mountains to practice skills and explore the mountains. In the evening there will be more learning and activities: slide shows, planning, studying the weather for the following day.
