Nottingham Trent University – Psychological Sciences for 16-17 Year Olds – July 2024

This summer school is ideal for anyone wanting to explore a range of contemporary topics in psychology, whilst getting a taste of what it’s like to study psychology at university.

Through seminar and practical workshop sessions you will explore a range of contemporary everyday psychology – beyond the level taught at school.

During this summer school you will:

– Explore psychological theory across a range of everyday topics, such as psychology of addiction, psychology of conspiracy, psychology of sleep, psychology of sport, psychology of education, psychology of body perception.
– Engage in critical psychological thinking and discussion across important real-world topics that are relevant to them.
– Evaluate the mechanisms of human behaviour
– Engage in the scientific practices involved in psychological research
– Have practical hands-on experience with specialist software used in psychology – Experience what studying psychology might be like at University
– Engage in psychological thinking that can be applied in everyday life.

Upon completing the course, you will be equipped with some of the background theoretical knowledge and skills essential even in year 1 study of psychology.
