This official DofE Gold Zoo Residential combines theory with real-life hands-on, practical zoo experience; all wrapped into a specific course to complete the residential section of your DofE Gold Award.
This Gold Residential offers experiential learning in a zoo setting to support a student’s interest in animals and the natural world. The programme educates, enthuses and bolsters students’ ambition to pursue further education and careers in the animal industry both in the UK and in the wider global community.
Practical husbandry and research experience allows the student to gain an understanding of managing the welfare of animals referencing nutrition, environment, health and behaviour.
This fun and engaging opportunity is a shared activity ideal for anyone with a passion for animals and conservation, or anyone looking to get ahead with Vet. Med. and animal-related schemes of study.
This course gives you practical experience towards university applications.
The residential is packed full of adventurous activities and is made even more special by the skills that you learn, direct contact with the animals, meeting new people and the friendships made.
The full five days at the zoo is a great taster week for aspiring vets and builds a network of professional contacts.
