The Reptile Academy is pleased to be hosting a second year of our ‘Reptile Ranger Residential’ Programme running between February – September 2024.
The programme takes place at our new animal management facility in the stunning Dorset countryside – REACH: Reptile Education & Activity Centre for Herpetofauna. This centre is licensed for over 100 animals including snakes, lizards, monitors and amphibians.
Participants should expect to work in depth with 20-25 species throughout the week and develop skills in animal husbandry, prevention of disease and pet welfare. We expect all participants to leave the week with greater hands-on husbandry experience than most veterinarians. This programme is ideally suited to participants interested in keeping exotic animals or those applying to relevant courses and/or employment in the zoology, conservation, and veterinary fields. However, all are welcome, and no prerequisite knowledge or experience is required.
The Reptile Academy Ltd is an Accredited Centre of Excellence for Reptile & Amphibian Education & Animal Welfare in the UK. This programme caters for both participants completing the Residential Section of the Gold DofE Award, as well as veterinary animal husbandry extra-mural studies (AHEMS) at university, and participants will benefit from the diversity of students who join us.
