What to expect

This specially designed event will help you realise there are no limits to what you can achieve in the workplace.

Join us for workshops to help you build your confidence and explore routes into employment, a panel discussion with young people who are blazing a trail in their own careers, a session with leading employers to understand what they are looking for when they hire young people, as well as a keynote speech delivered by the winner of the first season of The Apprentice, Tim Campbell MBE.

Attendance at the event is free of charge. Lunch and refreshments throughout the day will be provided, as well as all materials required for full participation in the event. Attendees will need to cover their own travel to and from the event.

Youth Without Limits LIVE is open to 200 young people who are current DofE participants and Award holders. The event is fully accessible and has been designed with young people aged 16-19 who have recently left school, in further education, or just starting out in the world of work, in mind.

Hear from employers about what they look for when they hire a young person and what they are doing to support young people to get into work.

10:45 – 11:45 – Unlock Your Future

Applying for Early Careers with Balfour Beatty Join Balfour Beatty as they guide you through the Early Careers application process, explain what to expect, and provide top tips to help you stand out when applying for role, as well as giving you the chance to hear firsthand from current Early Careers colleagues on their own application experiences and tips for success.

11:55 – 12:40 / 12:50 – 13:35 – Unlocking Potential – Skills for Professional Growth with RSM

Discover your capability and get ready for a successful career. This session is all about showcasing your strengths and identifying transferable skills that are highly valued by employers. Whether you’re entering the workforce soon or want enhance your employability, join us to learn what will set you apart in the world of work, and give you the confidence to succeed in your career.

Attendees will be divided into two groups – 50% will have lunch whilst 50% attend the workshop and then they will swap.

13:40 – 14:25 – Loudspeaker – Personal Storytelling

Research has shown that young people are feeling more and more anxious about finding opportunities in this post-COVID world. We equip young people with the self-belief needed to back themselves when setting career aspirations and setting goals in their personal lives. We also believe the most powerful tool we all have when navigating the world is our personal story – so we give young people a framework to be able to know and understand their own stories, and the skills needed to shout it from the rooftops!

14:30 – 15:00 – Navigating the Future

With career opportunities evolving daily, this inspiring panel discussion will spotlight young professionals who are blazing a trail in their own careers, navigating into the unknown and thriving in a rapidly changing world. Through their journeys, discover how you can adapt, harness transferable skills, follow your passions and stay true to your values as you create your own path to success.

15:15 – 15:55 – Keynote Talk – Tim Campbell MBE

Tim Campbell MBE is a business leader and entrepreneur best known as the winner of the first series of The Apprentice and now Lord Sugar’s aide on the programme. Join Tim as he talks about his journey, the lessons he has learned and what motivates him in business. He’ll be sharing the advice that he would want to offer his 16-year-old self.

Biographies

Tim Campbell MBE

Time is a passionate and recognised advocate of inclusion, talent development and financial literacy. With a focus on Education, Empowerment and Entrepreneurship, he established a ground-breaking charitable foundation, currently Chairs an outstanding school board and regularly speaks on these topics at conferences and after dinner events. This has led onto some of his most recent activities as the Regional Head of Africa for the best Proprietary Trading company, OSTC Group Marketing Director at financial services education business TheZISHI.com and D&I and Social Mobility strategic advisor for global talent acquisition company AMS. Tim has also been appointed as adviser to Lord Alan Sugar on the BBC One show the Apprentice, sitting alongside Baroness Karen Brady and he is an investor in a number of leisure and technology businesses.

Time is a proud Haberdasher Liveryman, Honorary Grocer Liveryman and an established and in-demand motivational Public Speaker having spoken at various global events, hosted international conferences and represented the UK Government and the City of London on business delegations. Tim is a commercially aware, business savvy and conscientious leader with a record of adding value and successfully supporting the government’s now labelled ‘Levelling Up’ agenda having been an appointed small business and social enterprise adviser.

Tim is married to his teenage sweetheart, has two children and is a keen fitness enthusiast who is either running, cycling, lifting or trying to keep up with the next generation of Muay Thain boxers and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu players.

Tim is a Silver DofE Award holder.

Vicki Sanderson – Chief People Officer, the MTC

Vicki Sanderson joined the MTC in January 2018 as its first HR Director – a role specifically created following the rapid growth of the company.

Vicki joined the MTC from Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group, where she held a similar post for two years.

Prior to that, Vicki spent 20 years at Domino Printing Sciences and played a key role as Group Human Resources Director. During her time at the company, it grew from 1,000 employees and a turnover of £120m to 2,500 employees and £360m turnover by 2015. In 2010 it was named plc of the Year.

After completing a history degree at St David’s University College, she joined Sainsbury’s graduate training scheme. She subsequently moved to Tesco’s, where she worked in the company’s Management Development Centre developing innovative training and

development solutions for senior managers and directors. Vicki is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development; a board member of Cambridge Network.

Hannah Russell – Co-Founder, Mags Creative

Hannah’s background is in tech startups, having worked in high-growth businesses in London and Berlin. She is passionately interested in business – in all its forms – and its power as a force for good. When she’s not pitching or formulating the Mags 5 year plan, Hannah can be found chasing after her 1 year old daughter, running, practising yoga and laughing whenever possible.

Hannah is a Gold DofE Award holder.
